As part of the “III International Eurasian Traditional Jiu-Jitsu Tournament” and educational and training seminar, which took place on December 5-7, 2014. in St. Petersburg, for his contribution to the global development of jiu-jitsu, Yuri Valerievich Smirnov was awarded the SOKE title and the 9th dan degree. The highest master’s degrees were awarded to Smirnov Yuri Valerievich by the President of AJJIFGlobal (“All-Japan International Jiu-Jitsu Federation”) Alexey Kunin, the diplomas were confirmed and signed by outstanding grand masters of martial arts and leaders of their areas, which has historical significance and value:

  • Jan Erik Karlsson – President of the Swedish School of Jiu-Jitsu;
  • Frank W. Dukes – martial artist, world champion in full contact kumite heavyweight, screenwriter, producer, Hollywood film actor;
  • Mikhail Ivanovich Tikhomirov – Chairman of the Union of National and Non-Olympic Sports of Russia, Honorary President of the International Sambo Federation.

In 2012, AJJIFGlobal “All-Japan International Jiu-Jitsu Federation” awarded Yuri Valerievich Smirnov the highest referee title in traditional jiu-jitsu.
